Albania vs Scotland Predictions and Match Preview
Albania began the maiden Nations League campaign in a promising fashion beating Israel 1-0 at home in September. However, they lost following two games and have dropped down at the very foot of the ladder in Group 1 as a consequence.
Albanians have a 1-4 goal difference and they need a win by at least three goals difference to keep theoretical chances of earning the promotion to League B before the last round fixture between Scotland and Israel at Hampden.
It is really hard to see such scenario coming given Albania’s dreadful form in the last couple of months. Christian Panucci’s men failed to find the back of the net in last three outings (two separate 2-0 defeats in Nations League and a goalless draw in a friendly against Jordan).
Albania vs Scotland: Head-to-head
This will only be the second ever head to head match between the two teams.
Scotland controlled the pitch when they met two months ago at Hampden.
Berat Djimsiti scored an own goal before Steven Naismith made it two for Scotland on the occasion.
Albania vs Scotland: Prediction
Albania lack attacking options without the likes of Sokol Cikalleshi and Armando Sadiku in their ranks. None of them will feature here against Scotland which is why we would not be surprised to see the visitors keeping things quiet at the back on Saturday.
Scotland are also on a poor run of five losses in last six matches, but they played much stronger rivals along the way (Peru, Mexico, Belgium and Portugal in friendlies). They dropped a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 away in Israel last time out.
Alex McLeish’s side will travel to Shkoder in a weakened side given they will be without Steven Naismith, Leigh Griffiths and Robert Snodgrass. In general, we expect a very tight affair to be decided by one or even none goals at Stadiumi Loro Borici.
